About Me
Hi, I'm Emily 👋🏻 I'm glad you are here.
I am a therapist and school counselor with over 12 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations of children, adolescents, adults and families across a variety of settings; including private and group practice, public middle schools in Texas, Florida and Virginia, an alternative secondary school and a short-stay residential crisis care facility.
A forever student who loves learning, I prioritize growing my professional expertise and expanding my therapeutic skill set by staying current with new ideas, perspectives and trainings. I value interdisciplinary collaboration with other mental health providers and welcome the opportunity to partner with your care team.
While I do have focus areas that I typically work with, I am open to seeing clients outside of that scope. Just because I didn't list what might be bringing you in, doesn't mean I do not have experience supporting that need. Take a look around, and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about my practice.
If you are interested in working together, I would love to hear from you today! I offer phone and face-to-face consultations, so let me know which format works best and we can connect. I look forward to supporting you.

Focus Areas
Family of Origin
I work with clients who seek to identify, process and understand experiences, issues and challenges related to their family of origin, past or present. This includes childhood trauma, estrangement, enmeshment, codependency, current or unresolved family conflict, dysfunctional family dynamics, divorce, attachment style, value/belief systems, inner child work.
Gender Expansive
Adolescents
I recognize gender diversity in my practice and work with teens who identify as transgender, non-binary or gender non-conforming as well as those who are questioning, exploring or developing their gender identity. I embrace all possibilities of identity, expression and experience beyond the gender binary.
I am featured in OutYouth's
Under 18 Transgender Resource Guide for Austin and Central Texas.
Identity Exploration
I support clients in the process of actively and thoughtfully examining "who am I?" through various aspects of their identity. Personal values, beliefs, self-perception, culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, ability, religion, spirituality or social identity may be explored.
Interpersonal Relationships
The clients who seek services with me are typically “people pleasers” who feel under-appreciated in their friendships, partnerships and career. I work with folks who are burnt out from constantly putting others' needs before their own and fed up with feeling like they have completely abandoned themselves in the process. If you seek to find ways to meet your own needs, to establish boundaries and develop assertive communication then I’m a great fit to work with you. Let’s find a way to reduce your stress and develop more authentic, reciprocal relationships.
School Issues
Over a decade of service in public education as a school counselor has uniquely prepared me to support adolescents and their families with a multitude of school concerns.
Navigating the school system is challenging and advocating for your kid can feel like a full-time job! I work with teens and their families who are struggling with academic achievement & engagement, behavior/disciplinary action, communication with teachers or administration, mental health needs, peer conflict, school avoidance or accessing support services like 504 and special education.
Self-Esteem
Developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself regarding your capabilities, character, worth and value is critical for mental, emotional and physical well being. Our self-esteem impacts our mood, career or educational attainment, connection to self and others and overall life satisfaction. If you are looking to build confidence, find motivation for change or develop a healthy relationship with your body, we can work together to rewrite the narrative of who you are.
I am proud to be a part of the Flatwater provider network. Flatwater provides mental health therapy in the wake of cancer and connects individuals with therapists to help clear their mind, heal their body, and find the strength to take on a diagnosis. Get care. Get involved.
My Approach
I approach mental health & wellness from a holistic perspective and recognize the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual.
I embrace clients from various backgrounds, cultures, races, sexualities, gender identities, body sizes & abilities and deeply value the diverse and unique intersectionality of these identities. I acknowledge and understand my privilege and I commit to continued accountability, growth, empathy, understanding and action in addressing how my intersectional identities and personal experiences impact our therapeutic relationship.
My approach is compassionate yet straightforward. If you are seeking a therapist to quietly sit and listen without feedback, I am not the best fit for you. You can count on me to be real with you, always. And if we can laugh about it, we will!
I draw from an eclectic range of therapeutic modalities, tailoring my approach to each client's unique needs and preferences to create a personalized and effective therapeutic experience. In my practice I use:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
-
